LOS ANGELES – Family entertainment network INSP has added two new videos to their critically-acclaimed and award-winning MOMENTS short-form series.  The videos feature DeVon Franklin, a movie producer and head of the newly-formed Franklin Entertainment.  In his former role as SVP of Production for Sony Pictures, Franklin oversaw production on such noteworthy films as The Pursuit of Happyness, the remake of The Karate Kid,  the box office hit Heaven is for Real, and the upcoming Annie starring Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane’ Wallis.  Franklin is also the author of the much heralded “Produced by Faith,” a unique self-help book which encourages the reader to look at their life in the context of a movie. Drawing from his own personal experience building a successful Hollywood career, Franklin instructs readers how to fight for their dreams without compromising their faith.

MOMENTS are original, short-form inspirational programs that celebrate love, hope, faith, valor and other timeless truths in action.  The series contain both scripted and documentary stories, and topics covered include: patriotism, poverty, adoption, family unity, homelessness, social justice, and religious freedom. Stories feature everyday Americans as well as some of the biggest names in entertainment, including EMMY® Award winners Edward James Olmos and Mark Burnett, GRAMMY award winner Ricky Skaggs, Roma Downey, Kirk Cameron, and the late Ralph Waite of the classic television series “The Waltons.”

MOMENTS have struck a chord with audiences across America. Spots have been praised and used by the U.S. Department of Defense, the United States Army, USAA, and the American Legion.  The series has won a Telly Award, a Summit Creative Award, a New York Festivals Film & Television Award, a CBC Media Award, has been shortlisted for the Primetime Emmy’s, was a finalist for a Cynopsis Digital Model D award, featured on ABC’s “The View,” and received special recognition from the Department of Defense for “service to our country.”

DeVon Franklin is a rarity: an African-American studio executive at the forefront of Hollywood’s hit machine. The 35-year-old San Francisco Bay Area native currently serves as Senior Vice President of Production for Columbia Tristar Pictures, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment, making him one of the youngest individuals in that position in the industry. He recently oversaw the remakes of “Sparkle,” starring the late Whitney Houston in her last on screen role, and “The Karate Kid,” starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith, which grossed over $350 million worldwide. He also worked on “The Pursuit of Happyness” and “Hancock” both starring Will Smith, as well as the faith-based hit “Not Easily Broken,” and the family comedy, “Jumping the Broom” starring Angela Bassett and Paula Patton, both produced by Bishop T. D. Jakes.

He currently oversees production on the upcoming remake of “Annie” and enjoying the success of the film adaptation of the NY Times Bestselling book, “Heaven Is For Real” released nationwide on April 16. DeVon was formerly a studio executive at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) where he worked on John Travolta’s “Be Cool” and Queen Latifah’s “Beautyshop,” and got his start as an intern for Will Smith and James Lassiter.
