Irwindale, Calif. (November 14, 2014) – – It was announced this afternoon that the three-race Western swing of Davey Hamilton’s King of the Wing National Winged Sprint Car Series would be televised by MAVTV in a joint venture with MustSeeRacing.com. All three events, including the November 22 race at Irwindale will be seen in tape delay coverage with the Irwindale race airing on Christmas Day, December 25.
The series producers will be working with MustSeeRacing.com to televise the three southern California “Wing” events. “We’re very excited about these races being televised for the fans, sponsors, tracks and racers. Being on MAVTV gives us a wonderful opportunity to showcase the excitement of pavement Winged Sprint Car racing to all of America,” said IndyCar veteran-turned-promoter Hamilton.
Nearly thirty drivers have already filed entries for the western swing of the series with teams heading out from as far east as Florida and north from Canada. The three final championship events span a single, frenetic weekend beginning with race one in Madera on Friday night, November 21st with race two at Irwindale Speedway on Saturday night November 22nd, conclude with race three at Kern County Raceway in Bakersfield on Sunday, November 23rd, where a rare afternoon race will see the crowning of the first ever “King of the Wing” for this new national series.
California’s own JoJo Helberg leads the series after the first three races held earlier this year in the mid-west. Third generation driver Davey Hamilton Jr. from Jamestown, Indiana follows in second place, with Tim Skoglund, from Fresno in third. Each of the feature races will pays $3000 to win and $750 to start.
