The King Taco Catering/NAPA AUTO PARTS 150 is the second event on this year’s 13-race schedule for the K&N West.
High Point Racing will get the action rolling on April 11 with a 20-lap celebrity race in actual stock cars. A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit the charity A Walk On Water (AWOW), which provides surf therapy to children with special needs and their siblings.
The Grand Marshall of the celebrity race will be respected actor, Scott Caan (Hawaii Five-O, Entourage, Oceans Eleven).
Celebrity drivers will include Brian Van Holt, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dustin Penner, Alex Gray, Emillio Rivera, Rusty Coones, William Fichtner, Diedrich Bader, Rob Morrow, A.J. Buckley, Skeet Ulrich, Mark Kriski and Swampy Marsh. After the race, the celebrity drivers will make themselves available to the general public in attendance for autographs before auctioning and raffling off signed memorabilia to raise money for AWOW.
The Pacific Challenge Series looks forward to bringing their extremely entertaining and high energy Super Late Model racing series to this event. The competition will feature a 100-lap race that’s sure to provide fans with a great show.
The Legends of the Pacific will battle it out for this National Qualifying Event. The Legend Cars have become one of the fastest growing segments of motorsports today. With drivers being classified into four different divisions, Legend Cars is the racing opportunity that is available to anyone.
The Bandolero Car is a turnkey, spec series racer designed for drivers as young as eight years old and the young-at-heart at any age. The Bandolero Car’s motivation is provided by a thumping Briggs & Stratton 570cc Vanguard engine mounted behind the driver. Small modifications have been made to boost the horsepower of the engines.
The Irwindale K&N Pro Series West track qualifying record belongs to Butch Gilliland at 17.871 seconds, 100.722 mph on June 19, 1999. Austin Cameron has the most series wins there, while Jason Bowles has the most poles and Brendan Gaughan led the most laps.
The top five finishers in last year’s K&N Pro Series West race at Irwindale included Patrick Staropoli, David Mayhew, Greg Pursley, Brandon McReynolds and Dylan Lupton. With this being only the second race of the season, let’s see what NASCAR up and coming star is ready to add their name to the 2015 race winners and/or record holders.
