WorldCast Systems Talks Digital MPX at NAB 2015

MPX over AES Supported throughout the Company’s Broadcast Chain

Miami, FL, April 8th 2015 – At NAB 2015, WorldCast Systems will display a range of products highlighting the company’s commitment to providing a fully digital transmission chain based on Digital MPX.
As many others in the industry also work towards this goal, WorldCast is in the unique position of being able to implement support in products right throughout the broadcast chain from codecs through to transmitters and measurement devices.
Under the codec brand APT, WorldCast will be showcasing MPX over IP- enabled audio codecs for both stereo and multi-channel delivery. With the ability to support 96kHz of audio bandwidth and scale the sample rate to 192kHz, the output of the audio codec can be transferred directly to the modulator of the exciter.  This 100% digital path eliminates D/A and A/D conversions which may cause degradation of signal quality and could introduce distortion.
Similar support is being implemented on Ecreso FM transmitters which will allow a fully digital transfer from an audio codec, audio processor or any device that feeds it and ensure that the modulator will faithfully represent the signal which was intended for broadcast.
Finally in the chain, WorldCast’s ground-breaking new test and measurement platform, the Audemat FM MC5 can perform highly detailed analysis on the MPX signal as well as the audio and RF components.  The highly accurate laboratory-grade test equipment is also capable of generating an MPX signal to perform comprehensive end-to-end testing for those developing, manufacturing, commissioning or maintaining FM equipment.
Commenting on the announcement, VP R&D and Product Development, Nicolas Boulay stated, “We see the trend towards a fully digital broadcast chain where equipment interconnects in a completely linear fashion as a real positive move for the industry. As developers of equipment that can be deployed as all stages in the transmission chain, we are working diligently to ensure that all our key products are capable of handling 192 kHz sampling and therefore digital distribution of the MPX signal.
