Body Repair Process with an Expanded Lineup of Cutting and Grinding Products featuring

3M™ Cubitron II™ Technology

3M Cubitron II Technology for Weld Removal, Grinding, Paint Removal and Panel Cutting/Sectioning Helps Collision Repair Professionals Work Faster, More Efficiently

ST. PAUL, Minn. (July 24, 2014) – In the collision repair industry, heavy duty metalworking can take its toll on tools, abrasive products and especially the collision repair professionals who use them. Key steps of the disassembly process such as weld removal, grinding, panel cutting/sectioning and paint removal quickly wear down traditional abrasive discs and file belts, causing technicians to have to repeatedly stop their work and replace them.  The limited cut rate and life of some abrasives mean technicians have to exert more effort and use more product to achieve the desired results.

3M has introduced a revolutionary new line of products to combat the increased demands placed on collision repair shops today.  The 3M™ Cubitron™ II family of purple abrasive products has quickly become the preferred solution for cutting through paint, welds and metals.  And they perform at least 30 percent faster and last twice as long while leaving a finer finish.

The 3M™ Cubitron™ II abrasive products feature precision-shaped grain technology that form sharp peaks that easily “slice” through paint and filler, even high-strength steel and aluminum. As the triangular shaped ceramic grain wears, it continuously fractures to form sharp points and edges that slice cleaner and faster, stay cooler, last twice as long and leave a consistent finish.

3M™ Cubitron™ II abrasive products now go beyond the cutting and grinding process to include paint removal, body filler shaping, feather edging, and primer sanding with the 3M™ Cubitron™ II Clean Sanding Hookit™ Discs in grades 40 to 220.  These discs join a full line of products for the body shop, from Roloc™ discs to fibre discs to cut-off wheels and file belts.

“When the cycle time is critical, it pays to quickly and efficiently dis-assemble the vehicle for accurate estimates, parts ordering and repair planning,” said Dale Ross, U.S. Marketing Operations Manager, Abrasives, for 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division.  “With the full line of 3M™ Cubitron™ II abrasive products, the repair professional has the most efficient cutting and grinding tools at their fingertips, which saves them time and money on the process.”
