The Television Academy announced today the return of Emmys® Backstage LIVE!, the streaming online show produced in conjunction with the 67th Emmy Awards telecast, which airs live coast-to-coast on Sunday, September 20 at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT on FOX. Backstage LIVE! is a free, all-access behind-the-scenes pass to the Emmys that streams live and simultaneously with the FOX broadcast on Emmys.com, FOX.com and Yahoo.com.
This year’s Backstage LIVE! second-screen experience includes three components: the live show video stream, real-time social media and the return of “Backstage EN VIVO!”, a Spanish-language translated director’s cut. Viewers will also be able to view the Yahoo pre-show beginning at 3:30 PM PT / 6:30 PM ET and concluding at the top of the telecast at 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET, as well as a post-show wrap up from 8:00 – 9:00 PM PT / 11:00 PM – 12:00 AM ET.
The expansive live show coverage will include more than 15 cameras positioned in various areas backstage during the Emmys telecast, giving viewers an insider’s glimpse of the spontaneous and emotional moments that aren’t seen on television. Below are several of the cameras that Backstage LIVE! viewers will have access to:
Chase Sapphire Preferred Blue Room: Watch the stars as they mix and mingle before taking the Emmy stage.
McDonald’s “Thank You Cam”: This camera will give winners a chance to thank additional friends, family, colleagues and fans who they may have not had time to thank on air.
Host Cam: Social media will be integrated throughout the evening, with host Marc Istook sharing #EmmyCongrats tweets from the fans with the winners
Chase Sapphire Preferred emmy Photo Lounge: This camera captures the night’s big winners and star-studded presenters as they pose for their official portrait for emmy Magazine.
All Backstage LIVE! content will be available for immediate replay and repeat viewing in the weeks following the program on Emmys.com. The Television Academy’s official site provides a digital showcase for all activities and content the Television Academy has to offer including photos and videos from the Emmy Awards, plus original exclusive videos like “My Emmy Moment” and “Fashion Flashback,” along with articles spotlighting members and Television Academy events throughout the year.
Real time social media will be curated and displayed over the live stream video and Backstage LIVE!’s social media monitor throughout the show. Additionally, a moderated live chat on Twitter will be viewable on Emmys.com, giving viewers the chance to chat with @TelevisionAcad by using #EmmysChat or #EmmysCongrats. The Television Academy has partnered with CrowdTangle for the 67th Emmys Backstage LIVE! to assist producers in tracking social accounts and identifying trends in real time.
Produced by Don Mischer Productions, and hosted by Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), the 67th Emmy Awards air Sunday, Sept. 20 (8:00-11:00 PM ET live/5:00-8:00 PM PT live) on FOX from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
