Atlantic City, NJ (February 22, 2016) – It is with a heavy heart that the Miss America Organization honors Miss New Jersey 2013 Cara McCollum who passed away early this morning surrounded by family and friends. Cara was a vibrant, intelligent, and exceptional young woman who was a proud advocate for women’s education and a talented news anchor at SNJ Today. She exemplified the values of the Miss America Organization, and it has been a privilege having her as a part of the Miss America family.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of Cara’s passing,” said Josh Randle, Chief Operating Officer of the Miss America Organization. “She was an extraordinary young woman, and we extend our deepest condolences and continued prayers to her family and friends.”
