Michael Prindiville, CEO of Dignitas, discussed the deal in a release: “Partnering with a world-class innovator like Verizon brings immense new opportunities. The technologies we are collaboratively building will help us strengthen support for our current and future partners far beyond today’s capabilities. A prominent aspect of the deal includes Dignitas identifying how player performance and player-to-fan connectivity can be enhanced with Verizon’s 5G network. There’s no word on when the centre will be opened at the time of writing.
Nicki Palmer, Chief Product Development Officer at Verizon, also commented: “We’re thrilled to partner with the largest ownership group in esports, and have our LA Lab be home to the nation’s first 5G esports training facility. With 5G’s fast speeds, high bandwidth and low latency, players will be able to do things like stream high-quality gameplay essentially in real-time, stay connected with fans on-the-go, and experience console quality multi-player gaming on their phones.”
Esports Insider says: It’s cool to see Verizon embrace esports in such a way, and we’re sure this deal will benefit Dignitas greatly. Working out ways in which 5G networks can enhance many aspects of the esports industry is a worthwhile venture in our eyes.
