The MSI Gaming Arena will be split into two stages: the MSI Weekly Esports Series and MSI Esports Championship Series. The Weekly Series – played on the Battlefy platform – will feature a collection of open online tournaments across a variety of games including League of Legends, Modern Warfare, Fortnite, and Overwatch.
Players who perform well in the online weekly competitions will have the opportunity to qualify for Championship Series events, a sequence of live tournament activations hosted at “major gaming events” throughout 2020. Currently, the MSI Esports Championship Series is slated to make its debut appearance at gaming exhibition PAX West 2020, with more details of offline events to come.
The 2020 edition of the MSI Gaming Arena series will feature a prize pool of over $50,000 (GBP38,267.26) and prizes such as gaming laptops and other hardware.

Yohan Sengamalay, General Manager at Battlefy told Esports Insider: “Battlefy is excited to work with MSI to power all aspects of the online qualifiers for the MSI Gaming Arena Series. They are the ideal partner because they share our passion for empowering gamers and commitment to building world-class competitive experiences. We cannot wait to see the best players in the United States battle it out.”
In its partnership capacity, Battlefy will manage all areas of the online qualifiers and provide support for the competitive series from an overall strategic standpoint.
Sam Chern, Vice President of Marketing at MSI also commented: “As a world leading gaming brand, MSI has been holding its own gaming tournaments MGA (MSI Gaming Arena) since 2010 to feedback to the esports community and boom the esports industry. All amateur and professional gamers have a stage and numerous opportunities to prove their worth. In 2020 MGA USA League, MSI will partnership with Battlefy for its experienced esports operations and background management to make MGA great again, ensuring all players have the best performance possible.”
Esports Insider says: The union between MSI and Battlefy seems a proper one, with activations and competition aplenty. The accessibility and broadness of the competitive circuit from its range of titles all the way to large-scale prize pools should attract amateur and competitive players alike.
