Computer peripherals and hardware company CORSAIR has completed its purchase of custom controller company SCUF Gaming.
CORSAIR agreed to acquire the controller manufacturer and its patent portfolio in December 2019.

This is the third acquisition by CORSAIR since EagleTree Capital secured a majority share in the company back in 2017.
Duncan Ironmonger, Founder and CEO of Scuf Gaming, commented on the sale in a release: “In late 2016, SCUF went through a rigorous process to select the right strategic private equity partner. Three years later, I can happily say that our decision to partner with H.I.G. Growth Partners was the right decision.
“From the outset, Evan, John, and the rest of the H.I.G. team helped us grow and mature SCUF in a meaningful way by not only investing in the business, but also advising on aspects of operations, finance, and strategy. Their experience proved a great sounding board for me and my management team, and I am grateful for the experiences and successes we shared.”

Scuf Gaming will remain a separate brand and will continue operations from its Atlanta headquarters. H.I.G. Growth Partners, which sold the company to CORSAIR, will continue to target “high-growth investments in the consumer and technology sectors.”
The controller company is partnered with the likes of Call of Duty League, OpTic Gaming, NBA 2K League, FaZe Clan, and eMLS.
Esports Insider says: The finalisation of the deal gives CORSAIR a strong foothold in console peripherals market, a market that’s particularly competitive. Scuf Gaming, however, is a leader in its lane and – depending on the financial aspects of the acquisition – is an incredible grab by CORSAIR.
