Atlanta Esports Ventures‘ Overwatch League franchise Atlanta Reign has received sponsorship from fast food giant McDonald’s.
Until April 6th, fans of the team will receive free delivery on orders of $15 (GBP12.13) or more when ordering with McDelivery through DoorDash or UberEats.

There’s no word on whether the sponsorship will last beyond April 6th, nor whether more activations are planned for the duration of the deal. McDonald’s logo is present on Atlanta Reign’s social media channels, however.
McDonald’s has operated in esports previously, having partnered with the likes of ESL Meisterschaft, Starcraft II World Championship Series, La Liga Esports, and ESL One Hamburg.

Atlanta Reign is partnered with Cox Communications and Respawn Products. Last November, the franchise announced plans for its own facility in Midtown Atlanta that would aid “in the creation of forty-five new jobs and an investment of $100,000,000.”
Atlanta Esports Venture co-owns Call of Duty League franchise Atlanta FaZe with FaZe Clan, though that team hasn’t announced a similar sponsorship with McDonald’s at the time of writing.
Esports Insider says: With everybody stuck indoors for the foreseeable future, we’re understandably seeing prominent brands leaning on gaming and esports to advertise products and services as that’s where a lot of eyeballs are. This sponsorship isn’t groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination but it’s a definitely a sign of the times.
