Vodafone Giants, x6tence, Movistar Riders, Cream Esports, OFFSET Esports, Team Queso, and Wizards Esports Club, have all founded the league alongside tournament organiser CABAL esports.

The One Tap League will have a prize pool of over EUR50,000 (GBP44,073.72) and is set to start in April. Other organisations from the Iberian region can participate in the league through qualifiers.

Details for the league – including its dates, format, and the casting talent that have signed on – are expected to be announced in the near future. At the time of writing, it hasn’t been disclosed as to whether the founding teams had to buy into the project.

FLASHPOINT, slated as the first team-owned CS:GO league, is currently hosting its inaugural season. Its eight founding teams are FunPlus Phoenix, Envy Gaming (owner of Team Envy), Immortals Gaming Club (owner of MIBR), OverActive Media (owner of MAD Lions), Cloud9, Gen.G, Dignitas, and c0ntact Gaming.

Esports Insider says: We’re not saying the One Tap League has been spurred on by FLASHPOINT, but the timing may suggest that. We know it takes a long time to plan and execute a product with so many founding parties, though, so that has to be taken into consideration. Either way, it’s good to see a league established for a region that’s typically under-represented in the CS:GO scene.
