The International Esports Federation (IESF) and the World Esports Consortium (WESCO) have signed a memorandum of understanding with the goal of promoting unity within the industry.
The deal comes after the International Esports Federation entered an agreement with the Asian Electronic Sports Federation in March.

This agreement with the World Esports Consortium is a part of a bigger strategy in which the International Esports Federation is attempting to build a sustainable and united ecosystem set to include “all interest and stakeholders” in the esports industry.
This memorandum of understanding is the first under the federation’s newly-appointed president Vlad Marinescu, who replaced Colin Webster after he stepped back from the position due to “circumstances resulting directly from the COVID-19 crisis.

Vlad Marinescu, President of International Esports Federation, spoke on the agreement in a release: “This MOU marks an important moment in the unification of Esports. Our target at the IESF is unification, collaboration, and recognition. This agreement achieves the three objectives, all at the same time. I’d like to congratulate and thank Mr. Cossi for his contribution to Esports thus far. WESCO and the IESF will work together on various programs around the world that’ll achieve positive benefits for all stakeholders.
“We are looking forward to collaborating with more entities that have the same objectives as IESF which are to protect Esports athletes, ensure mental health and promote physical health as well, and also the recognition of Esports as a sport globally via the international federation and nationally via the national associations through a partnership with each country’s sports authority.”
Esports Insider says: Despite competition from the Global Esports Federation, the IESF doesn’t appear to be struggling in forging new relationships and agreements that likely strengthen its position in the eyes of many.
