BLAST Bounty Hunt treasures SteelSeries sponsorship

Danish gaming peripherals manufacturer SteelSeries will sponsor BLAST Bounty Hunt, the inaugural Dota 2 event from tournament organiser BLAST.

The partnership will SteelSeries granted a number of branding opportunities, including the official presentation of all “Bounties” and the equipping of every analyst and caster with SteelSeries headsets during broadcasts.

The tournament, which was announced in May, will see OG Esports, Team Secret, Nigma, NIP, Alliance, and Team Liquid go head-to-head for a $145,000 (GBP115,00) prize pool. It will take place across five days, from June 9-13th.

Leo Matlock, Commercial Director at BLAST, described the attractiveness of a partnership with SteelSeries, which also sponsored last November’s BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen: “The partnership provides a perfect fit for both brands with BLAST and SteelSeries sharing a keen eye for innovation and great passion for the world of esports. We’re thrilled to have SteelSeries on board for BLAST Bounty Hunt, and bringing some exciting fan engagement ideas with their Dota 2 heritage, as we look to expand into the popular game and deliver the first class tournament that viewers have come to expect from us.”

BLAST Bounty Hunt will feature a dynamic prize pool, additional bounties, and an interactive fan prediction game. Last month also saw a sponsorship with online bookmaker Betway announced for the event. The partnership will also see a number of SteelSeries products up for grabs during several giveaways planned across BLAST’s broadcast and social channels throughout the tournament.

Tim Ashton, European Head of Esports for SteelSeries, also commented on the deal: “BLAST have proven time and again that they’ve got what it takes to launch top tier tournaments and events, and we’re excited to be part of their first foray into Dota 2. This scene is a proud part of our heritage, and we can’t wait to see how the Dota 2 community engage with this exciting new addition.”
