According to the press release, 200 competitors will advance from the Worldwide Open to battle for a share of its $1m (~ GBP731,824) prize pool. All players attending the final event will walk away with a portion of the prize money, with the winner taking home $300,000 (~ GBP219,890).

Players will compete in six titles of their choice across five genres. The titles available to choose from are League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Call Of Duty: Warzone, Madden 21, Fortnite, NBA 2K21, VALORANT, Tekken, and two yet to be announced games. In addition, players will also have to complete one ‘wildcard challenge’.

Steve Suarez, the CEO of Ultimate Gamer, commented on the event: “At Ultimate Gamer, it’s our mission to give everyday gamers, who are normally not supported, a place to test their skills in a variety of titles, play against gamers from all over the world and celebrate gaming on the largest scale possible.”

Prior to the Worldwide Open, the organiser will hold the Ultimate Gamer Champion Series, starting February 20th. The competition will offer a $5,000 (~ GBP3,661) prize pool and the opportunity to get seeded into ‘Phase II’ of the Worldwide Open.

Suarez added: “I’m proud to be building one of the world’s largest and most inclusive gaming communities, completely agnostic of whether you play on PC, console, or mobile, or whether you like sports, MOBA, Fighting, or FPS games. If you want to find like-minded people, or just want to play for the love of gaming, Ultimate Gamer is where you need to be.”

Esports Insider says: Ultimate Gamer has introduced an innovative multi-genre tournament format, a one of a kind gaming competition accessible for gamers worldwide to prove their skills. The impressive prize pool indicates the organiser is serious about its mission to support everyday gamers. It’s great to see new concepts in non-professional esports emerge and we’re intrigued to see how far this initiative goes.
