For Igor Puga, Director of Brand and Marketing from Santander Brasil, the bank will use financial solutions to approach a younger demographic. “For us it is not just a sponsorship, it is a business strategy, a bet in a place that no other player in the financial market has been. It has to do with innovation and boldness. We chose the most popular and democratic game today to make our debut in the gaming world.”

Free Fire players can register on the Santander website, and will have two options to acquire Free Fire Diamonds. First, by spending with a Santander credit card, players will receive a lucky number to compete for two prizes of one million Diamonds each. Second is via the ‘SX’ — Santander’s financial solution for the Central Bank of Brazil’s ‘PIX’ payment system. People who register their social security number — in Brazil, their CPF — or mobile number will receive 600 Diamonds, and those who make at least one monthly PIX transaction can receive 50 Diamonds per month — reaching a potential total of 1,200 Diamonds per year.
For the 2021 season, LBFF will have a R$2.4 million (GBP322,320) prize pool, the amount being divided between the three stages of the competition during the year. For LBFF 4, the prize will be R$745,000 (GBP100,149).
Esports Insider says: Garena working with Santander is a nice way to engage the young audience coming from Free Fire, and may incentivise them to use the Santander service so they can earn Free Fire Diamonds. It’s a nice partnership for both brands.
