BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Press Ganey today announced its authorization from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to administer the Primary Care First Patient Experience of Care Survey (PCF PECS). The program is part of CMS’s five-year model to improve quality and patient experience while reducing costs in the primary care setting.

Press Ganey will deploy surveys during the inaugural PECS administration period scheduled to run September 28 through December 21, 2021 and throughout the entire five-year duration.

“We are proud to receive CMS approval to provide a solution to help drive and sustain improvement in the primary care setting,” said Daniel Litwer, Chief Client Officer, Press Ganey. “Feedback from patients will produce critical insight into how this model impacts and reshapes the experience for those with complex and chronic conditions.”

As part of its efforts to assess the impact of the Primary Care First Model, CMS is utilizing a focused set of patient experience measurements, including CG-CAHPS 3.0 with additional PCF-specific questions, oriented around five key domains:

Receiving timely care, appointments and information

How well providers communicate

Patient’s rating of provider

Attention to care from other providers

Support patients taking care of own health

New survey measures will complement Press Ganey’s short, real-time digital surveys. Practices with mixed-mode data collection can gain insights into the patient experience for both in-person and virtual visits while maximizing PCF program performance.

“This approval together with our recent SPH Analytics acquisition makes Press Ganey the only partner certified to conduct all CMS- and NCQA-mandated experience surveys,” said Kaycee Glavich, Director of Policy, Press Ganey. “We are uniquely positioned to help organizations navigate evolving requirements thanks to our deep subject matter expertise and stringent adherence to quality assurance guidelines.”

To partner with Press Ganey for the 2021 performance year, PCF practices must enter into a contract with Press Ganey and notify CMS of vendor authorization by June 30, 2021.
