This is the first time Expedia has partnered with an esports entity. The company is known for its travel aggregators, with Hotels.com and Trivago being some of its more known brands, as well as Expedia.com and Expedia Cruises.
Mike Wolfe, Expedia Group’s Head of Global Brand Creative, Sponsorships and Partnerships, noted: “We’re excited to announce this collaboration with the Esports Awards, an event as global as our travellers. We know the travel audience is a big part of the gaming family and we look forward to helping them, fans and followers unleash their travel greatness through the epic, in real-life trips we all can’t wait to take again.”

Expedia has also been announced as a presenting sponsor for the Esports Coach of the Year Award.
The Esports Awards, taking to the Esports Stadium Arlington in Texas, will present more than 37 awards that cover the entirety of the esports industry. This includes Esports Game of the Year, Esports Organisation of the Year and Esports Coverage Platform of the Year, which Esports Insider is nominated for.
Esports Insider says: Sponsoring the Esports Awards is a great entry point to the world of esports for Expedia, one of the most known travel companies in the world. Although this is only the first step for the company, there’s no reason as to why Expedia wouldn’t want to invest more in the industry after the Awards are over.
