Pokrzywa joined OpTic Gaming as its COO and VP in January 2021 from fellow North American esports organisation NRG Esports. Pokrzywa worked as the Head of Marketing and Director of Operations for NRG from 2019 to 2021.

Via LinkedIn, Pokrzywa noted: “With the merger of OpTic and Envy, unfortunately, my time as COO / VP of OpTic Gaming / OpTic Texas has come to an end. It’s been a volatile and wild past year to say the least but I’m excited for what the future holds.

“A huge thank you to Andy Miller from NRG Esports for giving me my start in esports four years ago and Hector Rodriguez for believing in me to help run the business side of OpTic for the last 12 months.”

OpTic Gaming and Envy Gaming joined forces this November to field a number of teams in different esports titles. Most notably, Texas-based Call of Duty League franchise Dallas Empire was rebranded to OpTic Texas.

Esports Insider says: After less than a year at OpTic, Joe Pokrzywa is leaving the organisation following the organisation’s merger. This is likely due to inner restructuring efforts that are currently occurring at the esports organisation. There is no doubt that a man of his calibre will soon find a new organisation to call home.
