Getting a COVID-19 vaccine now is significantly easier than it was back in May 2021. Unless you have a special circumstance, if you’re over the age of 12 you can get the vaccine right now.
As of August 2021, around 356 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country and 172 million people are fully vaccinated. As impressive as those numbers are, only about half (51%) of the US population is protected against the coronavirus. The other half is still vulnerable and we know that we need more people vaccinated to reach herd immunity.
These days, it’s pretty easy to find a COVID-19 vaccine, but there are a few tips we have to share on how to go about it.

The first step to getting the vaccine should be to head to Vaccines.gov. This site, which is run by the US government, is a good place to start to get information about the vaccine and finding locations near you where you can get it.
Most nationwide and local pharmacies are offering appointments to get the vaccine, but you might also be able to go to a walk-in clinic in your area that are distributing the vaccine. Many regional health clinics, such as Sutter Health and Oak Street Health, are also offering the vaccine.
You should also check with your doctor or other health care providers, as some clinics and doctor’s offices also have vaccines and may be able to help you find a vaccine appointment there.
COVID-19 vaccines are free to everyone living in the US, regardless of immigration status and whether or not you have health insurance.
