Kirklees College collaborates with Lucent Esports on esports courses

Kirklees College has announced a partnership with Yorkshire-based company Lucent Esports to develop its esports courses.

According to the release, the courses will cover all aspects of the esports industry, including games, teams and tournaments. In addition, the courses will discuss streaming, events, establishing an esports organisation, as well as promoting positive health and wellbeing.

As a part of the agreement, Lucent Esports will provide masterclasses on esports and social media, as well as teaching students how to run an esports company on a day to day basis. The students will also help judge esports competitions held by the college and Lucent Esports.

John Shone, Study Programme Lead for Esports at Kirklees College said: “We are excited to be collaborating with Lucent on the delivery of our brand-new esports courses. Lucent are experts within their field and we hope our students will be inspired and benefit from their wealth of knowledge.”

After fielding esports teams in the past, Lucent Esports now focuses on tournament organising and providing esports players with a platform to compete on.

William Gleadall, Director of Operations at Lucent Esports added: “The prospect of working with Kirklees College excites all the staff at Lucent. Working with a local college to help pass on our knowledge and expertise within the industry to students studying the Esports BTEC is vital to us.”
