The widgets are expected to be available in three main types — Topbar, Sidebar and Site Takeover. Each type is said to be modularised and fully responsive, which allows customers to customise the widget. Some of the customisations detailed include colours, fonts, styling and language.
All of the widgets will contain esports calendars that can be filtered by games, tiers of play and teams.
Ibrahim Asfadai, Frontend Developer at Abios, commented: “Our initial success with sportsbook widgets led us to go back to the drawing board to see what we could create for a broader demographic. The launch of our media widgets marks a new chapter in our mission to enable the growth of the esports industry.
“Not only can our customers build their own products on our data, we also facilitate esports features that can be utilised with limited to no coding experience. We want our data to be available and useful to everyone.”
Abios launched its first widgets, in collaboration with Unibet, in 2019 to help sportsbooks engage with audiences. The data platform has cited that due to the popularity and success of these widgets, Abios has opted to launch its product for esports content platforms.

The data platform has stated that its widgets are embeddable iframes, which means that the customer needs to simply copy/paste a code snippet. Abios will host the widgets and take control of uptime, CDN and redundancy.
Esports Insider says: Engaging with fans is a major priority for almost all esports platforms. As such, proving an efficient way to showcase data could help keep retention. Given that a similar widget has been used by Abios for bookmakers, it’ll be interesting to see if the product enhances different platforms.
