SK Gaming partners with REWE

German esports organisation SK Gaming has announced a partnership with retailer REWE.

The partnership will see REWE become SK Gaming’s official nutritional partner. As a result, the retailer will provide the organisation’s players and staff with food products.

According to the release, REWE’s logo will also feature on SK Gaming’s jerseys and its player facilities in Cologne and Berlin.

REWE is one of the largest retailers in Germany, with almost 4,000 stores in the country. REWE is also a sponsor of FC Koln’s esports team and has supported a number of esports tournaments and activations for the German football club. REWE’s logo also features on the jersey for FC Koln’s esports and football team.

We are looking forward to working together in the future and we feel assured that we can fall back on a regionally and nationally strong partner with a lot of experience in the nutrition sector, who also shares a love for 1. FC Koln.”

This is not the first time SK Gaming has partnered with a retailer. Earlier this year SK Gaming announced a partnership with Lidl, with the supermarket chain becoming a ‘fresh food partner’ of the esports organisation.

Lionel Souque, CEO of REWE Group, added: “Esports is a dynamically growing digital sport, both nationally and internationally, which will continue to gain attractiveness in the coming years, especially for young target groups, and which has great potential for growth.

“We are very pleased that we, as a Cologne-based company, are taking the next step in our esports activities together with the Cologne-based company SK Gaming and that we can further expand the competence we have gained in esports with this strong partner.”

Esports Insider says: As SK Gaming’s new nutritional partner, the organisation should further its presence in the German market. Given both entities populairty in the country, the deal seems to make sense for both parties involved.
