Harena Data and Amuka Esports partner to launch Toronto collegiate esports league

Esports community aggregator Harena Data has partnered with Canadian venue and tournament provider Amuka Esports to launch a collegiate esports league in Toronto through the Canadian Collegiate Esports League (CCEL).

As a result, the CCEL will provide various esports opportunities, including tournaments and scholarships to Toronto students.

Using Harena Data’s esports analytics and club management portal GYO Score, participating universities will be able to organise competitive or casual matches, manage players and teams, connect with other schools and keep track of leagues and records.

Toronto collegiate esports league events will be reportedly held in Amuka’s Toronto facility and the forthcoming Ottawa facilities.

Ben Feferman, CEO of Amuka Esports, spoke on the announcement: “The Canadian Collegiate Esports League is going to be a massive element of the collegiate esports ecosystem in Canada and we are excited to be working with Harena Data to deliver the best competitive gaming experience at our venues in Toronto, Windsor and Ottawa.”

The CCEL, formed in December 2021, is composed of 13 universities, namely the University of Victoria, University of Regina, Lethbridge College, University of Lethbridge, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, University of Winnipeg, Simon Fraser University, York University, University of Manitoba, McGill University, University of Windsor, MacEwan University and Dalhousie University.

Harena Data also recently partnered with the advertising video-on-demand platform Future Today to launch Go PiXLS, an esports entertainment and gaming network.

Bill Dever, Chief Strategy Officer at Harena Data, added: “We’re partnering with Amuka to expand Canada’s offering of esports and push the country as a leader in the industry.

Launching an esports collegiate league in Toronto is certainly a great start, as it creates a pipeline of aspiring esports players looking to become professionals.
