LYTESHOT NAMED AS 2015 CES INNOVATION AWARDS HONOREE

LyteShot’s State-of-the-Art, Sensor-Based Mobile Platform Recognized By CEA in the Gaming Hardware & Accessories Category

Chicago, Illinois – November 12, 2014 – The pioneering game system creator LyteShot Inc. announced today it was named a 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovation Awards Honoree by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) in recognition of the development of the company’s sensor-based mobile gaming platform LyteShot. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers, and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product categories.

LyteShot is merging the physical and digital worlds with its groundbreaking new mobile gaming platform that turns any place in the world into your gaming arena. The LyteShot open platform, slated to go live on Kickstarter in January 2015, reimagines mobile gaming on smart phones and also utilizes the next generation of heads up display (HUD) for unlimited multiplayer live action experiences for real-world gaming.

The LyteShot integrated platform is comprised of the LyteShot mobile app system, along with the Lyter handheld device, and the LytePuck sensor, which leverage an array of sensors and combine to deliver an endless supply of games from live-action role-playing games, first-person shooters, new variations of games of tag with obstacles, scavenger hunts with challenges, and adventures with complex storylines.  With LyteShot, the experiences are only limited by imagination as the platform offers unrivaled immersive gaming experiences.

The LyteShot system utilizes its versatile, open source gaming software development kit (SDK) designed for immediate access and usability. Likewise, the hardware wirelessly connects with players’ smartphones through Bluetooth (BLE) on any iOS or Android device to utilize its many sensors, including infrared (IR) and an accelerometer, to provide real-time in-game data transfer via the LyteShot cloud servers.

The platform enables developers to create Alternate Reality games (ARG) that take advantage of the next generation of gaming technology, including the ability to create, as well as using heads-up display (HUD) interfaces such as Epson Moverio glasses to provide on-screen in-game data imagery such as health statistics and augmented reality (AR) characters and objects, enhancing an endless array of live action gaming experiences. For developers and 3D makers, LyteShot is a fully-integrated, open source mobile gaming platform with not only its SDK, but also its accessible hardware and peripheral system that enables users to design and 3D print their own peripherals that attach to the Lyter for any type of game.

“This recognition from CEA as an Innovation Honoree Award recipient is both humbling and incredibly invigorating, particularly because of the company that we are keeping in the Gaming Hardware & Accessories category,”  said LyteShot CEO Mark Ladd. “This award represents the pinnacle of excellence in consumer electronics, and we could not be more excited as it identifies and celebrates the hard work and creative vision we have poured into the LyteShot platform.”

“LyteShot is what I always thought gaming would eventually evolve into,” said co-founder and CTO Tom Ketola, a 20-year veteran of the video game industry with positions at leading game development studios such as Activision, Disney Interactive, Midway and Konami. “It didn’t make sense that it hadn’t evolved beyond the living room. LyteShot genuinely opens up mobile gaming in ways that haven’t been imagined yet.”

The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of the International CES, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technology, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

LyteShot Inc.’s platform will be displayed at the 2015 International CES, which runs January 6-9, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled New York, which features dozens of exhibitors and networking opportunities, and runs 4:30-7:30 pm, November 11, at the Metropolitan Pavilion, New York.

Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace and unique/novel features present.

Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.

2015 CES Innovation Honoree products are featured on CESweb.org/Innovation, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, description, photo and URL.
