MIAMI, Fla. (March 10, 2014) – The iconic KC and The Sunshine Band takes on the decade that shaped America with the release of their new album, Feeling You! The 60s, in select stores nationwide and on iTunes and Amazon today. Celebrating over forty years since their biggest hits like “Shake, Shake, Shake (Shake Your Booty),” “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s The Way I Like It,” “Boogie Shoes,” and more dominated the mainstream pop charts, the band’s frontman Harry Wayne “KC” Casey is slated to appear on OWN’s Where Are They Now?, Bloomberg TV’s Taking Stock with Pimm Fox, The Weather Channel’s Wake Up With Al, The Better Show, OK! TV, TV One’s Unsung, CNN’s The Seventies, Tuff TV’s Music Mix USA, SiriusXM and many more in support.
Featuring covers of songs by sixties legends like Ben E. King, The Righteous Brothers, Jackie DeShannon, Aaron Neville and others, KC says this new album stems from an inspiration to pay tribute to those songs who helped shape him into the revolutionary artist he is today.
After an exclusive track premiere on Billboard last week, the full album premiered exclusively on March 9 on Yahoo! Music, and Senior Editor Billy Johnson, Jr. writes, “Feeling You! The 60s is a fun listen. It’s great hearing KC and the Sunshine Band’s interpretations of classics from Sam Cooke, The Kinks, The Supremes and Arthur Conley. What a great era. When I recently met KC, he said he was so excited to share these covers. You can hear his love for the works.”
RELIX Magazine hails, “[Feeling You! The 60s includes] 17 tracks that reinvent some of the decade’s best melodies. They supercharge Otis Redding’s ‘Dreams’ with a funky, driving beat, a jazzy organ interlude and a guitar solo that drops quotes from Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Are You Experienced’ into the mix.” Calling KC’s vocal “jubilant” and the band’s harmonies “sanctified,” J. Poet writes, “They close with a devotional rendition of Jackie DeShannon’s ‘Put A Little Love in Your Heart’ that will move your soul the way the rest of the album moves your body.”
Additionally, The Huffington Post’s Michael Ragogna caught up with KC for a one-on-one interview about what the new album means to KC.
“I’m excited for my fans to hear this new album,” said KC. “Feeling You! The 60s is autobiographical, showing how I feel about love, life and the world through the music of the 60s era. It was the widespread social and political issues of the 1960s that was in part my inspiration to create music that would make people forget about their problems and be happy.”
