Nerdist Sports, Video Podcasts, and New Multi-Platform Content Announced
The Nerdist Podcast Network is adding new programming to their slate of shows starting with New York Times bestselling author Jonah Keri. Chris Hardwick, CEO and founder of Nerdist, will be Jonah’s first guest when the show debuts on January 29, 2016. In addition to Keri, the network is adding six additional programs from leading comedians and hosts Jenna and Bodhi Elfman, Jackie Kashian, Laurie Kilmartin, Alexi Wasser, Arden Myrin, Alison Haislip, Alex Albrecht and Nina Gordon and Louise Post of Veruca Salt. Now with a total of 49 podcasts for audiences to choose from, the network garners over 8M monthly downloads across a multitude of different genres.
The Podcast Network is part of Nerdist Industries, a multi-platform creator of genre and popular culture content. In conjunction with expanding the network’s content and adding video to several of its most successful podcasts, Nerdist’s podcasts can also be found on an even wider range of distribution platforms including the newly updated version of Spotify.
“I know that a good portion of our audience enjoys sports, which I was always resistant to (because I was bad at them) — I just needed to find the right person. Jonah is 100% the perfect human to expand our ecosystem into Nerdist Sports,” Chris Hardwick shared. “When I launched Nerdist in 2008, my goal was always to open it up to as many points of view as possible. So I’m excited very about all these additions to the network and finding different ways to work with them across multiple platforms.”
