Jordan spoke about the decision to invest in Andbox with Adweek: “[Andbox] cared about the New York culture, they wanted to make sure they got it right. I’m from Newark, New Jersey, but I grew up in Manhattan. With Andbox, I felt like they really cared about New Yorkers and being authentic to the city.

“I’m never the guy that just wants to cash out. I’m never the guy who just wants to be involved to put my name on it. I have to have some passion for it. Call of Duty, if anybody knows me, they know that’s my shit.”

Andbox doubled the amount of esports franchise properties it owned in October when the New York Subliners was announced for the Call of Duty League, having already competed in Activision Blizzard’s Overwatch League since the inaugural season with New York Excelsior.

As well as housing esports franchises, Andbox – which was launched in June – has a big emphasis on apparel. Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow, who co-founded the New-York based fashion label Public School, serve as Creative Directors at the company.

Esports Insider says: Jordan is simply the latest celebrity to get involved in esports, joining a list that seems to grow each and every week. With Andbox’s hard emphasis on New York, it seems like the most suitable fit for the actor in this particular industry.
