MotoGP eSport Championship partners with Oakley

The MotoGP eSport Championship has brought in North American lifestyle brand Oakley as a partner for the 2020 season.

Online qualification for the 2020 season begins on March 5th, with players competing in a number of online challenges to secure a place in the draft.

The 2020 championship begins on May 31st at the Italian Grand Prix where the the first of four rounds will take place. From there, the championship moves to Austria, back to Italy and culminates at the final round of the MotoGP season in Valencia.

Ben Goss, Global Marketing Director of Oakley, discussed the partnership in a release: “The MotoGP team has done a phenomenal job in establishing the Championship as one of the top racing competitions in eSports, and we’re looking forward to working with the team at Mugello and beyond to create an unforgettable season for gamers and fans across the world.”

Oakley has joined Lenovo, Michelin, Red Bull, Cashback World, BMW M, and Tissot as a partner of the MotoGP eSport Championship.

Pau Serracanta, Managing Director of Dorna Sports, added: “I’m very happy about this new agreement with Oakley, who are such an important partner of MotoGP. The fact that they also have products to improve the experience of the gamers makes our partnership even more important for the coming years.”

Esports Insider says: Oakley joining the championship as a partner is a logical move considering that it already sponsors several MotoGP races in the calendar. The partnership is Oakley’s entrance into esports, so if this is successful then it could be the catalyst for further involvement in the future.
