HyperX first released its gaming eyewear product in 2017, utilising blue light filtering in the lense to minimise the effects of a player’s eyes while gaming. The collaborative Panda Global product has the option of prescription lenses.

Alan Bunney, MD, CEO of Panda Global, spoke on the collaboration in a release: “We’re very excited at Panda Global about this collaboration with HyperX and Eyeking to bring the first team eyewear to market. It seems to be a no-brainer that an esports team would make eyewear given how many gamers wear glasses in our industry (myself included) but making them is a much harder task than you’d think! Thanks to HyperX and Eyeking, we were able to make these a reality and we’re so excited for people to be able to use them.”

Earlier this month, Panda Global made a series of full-time and part-time hires. The organisation brought on the likes of Panda Global has hired esports caster Zak “CONEY” Zeeks, writer and statistician Jack “Jackie Peanuts” Moore, web developer Bien “Xiily” Nguyen, engineer and event organiser Robin “Juggleguy” Harn, and Brandon “EveryDamnDay” Brady.

Stephanie Winkler, Strategic Marketing Manager at HyperX, added: “Over the past few months there has been a surge of in the amount of time spent in front of a screen; whether that be working from home, gaming for increased hours, or in many instances – a combination of the two. Both HyperX and Panda Global recognized the importance of eye health for players and fans alike, so this collaboration has taken on a new weight of importance for our changing times.

“The Panda Global team has been using the HyperX Gaming Eyewear for several years now, and have firsthand knowledge on how beneficial it is in reducing eye strain during practice, competition and general screen time.”

Esports Insider says: This is a cool collaboration, reinvigorating HyperX’s eyewear not too long after ESL entered a global licensing agreement with GUNNAR Optiks. We’d love to know the sales data of this branded product in a few months, but that’s likely wishful thinking.
