NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Viamedia, the leading cross-media local advertising company, issued the following company statement in response to Comcast’s September 4, 2020, filing with the United States Supreme Court of a petition for a writ of certiorari relative to the February 2020 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit reinstating Viamedia’s antitrust lawsuit against Comcast (Case 18-2852):

“Viamedia intends to oppose Comcast’s petition. Comcast seeks to challenge the correct and well-reasoned decision of the Seventh Circuit, which held that Viamedia has jury-ready claims against Comcast for monopolizing in violation of the Sherman Act. The parties are now engaged in additional discovery in the district court, and we hope to proceed to trial next year. The cable television advertising ‘Interconnects’ were intended to provide for a fair, inclusive, efficient and competitive marketplace for advertisers, cable operators and consumers, which is more important than ever in the face of new challenges to the advertising economy.”

In February, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit revived Viamedia’s $500 million antitrust claim against Comcast, remanding the case for jury trial. Viamedia commented on that decision, and provided a timeline of the case, on February 26.

Viamedia is represented in its lawsuit by Kellogg Hansen Todd Figel & Frederick PLLC.
