Berlin-based gaming brand LVL has partnered with German football club Hertha, Berliner Sport-Club (Hertha BSC) to launch a FIFA tournament series named “La LVL Liga.”
The tournament will begin on October 10th, and will continue until the end of the 2020/21 Bundesliga season in May 2021. The 16 players with the most points at the end of the season will qualify for the playoffs where a EUR2000 (GBP1,800) prize pool will be up for grabs.

La LVL Liga will take place at the LVL gaming centre in Berlin. The establishment was launched in partnership with G2 Esports in March.
Dorian Gorr, Managing Director at VERITAS Entertainment, spoke on the partnership in a release: “We’re thrilled to work together with Hertha BSC on La LVL Liga and love their natural focus on the Berlin region. Some lucky FIFA 21 players might have the shot of a lifetime with this format, launching their professional esports career and being discovered by one of the key players in FIFA esports. We can’t wait to greet Berlin’s best FIFA 21 players at LVL.”

Alongside the EUR2000 prize pool, the top 16 players will be invited to a boot camp and training session organised by Hertha BSC. During the boot camp, there will be an opportunity for any of the players to be signed to the Hertha BSC esports academy.
Maurice Sonneveld, Head of Digital Media at Hertha BSC, also commented on the deal: “As a sports club in Berlin, we are focusing on developing esports talent from here in the capital. With our training program we have already made it possible for a few young, local gamers to make their way as professional esports players and to play for us in the virtual Bundesliga. Now we are excited about the next generation, and we are looking forward to finding and working with talent at the innovative esports venue LVL.”
Esports Insider says: This partnership has the potential to increase Hertha BSC’s presence in the industry by cultivating new talent to its esports academy. It’s also good to see some form of an in-person event taking place amid the COVID-19 pandemic too, though it must be a logistical nightmare.
