Nominees Announced for 2015 Rockie Awards Program Competition

BANFF, ALBERTA (April 17, 2015) – The Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) has announced the full list of nominees for its annual Rockie Awards Program Competition. Industry members from over 40 countries participate in this prestigious awards program that celebrates narrative content across 26 categories in drama, documentary, kids, and digital. 

Nominees come from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States and are chosen by over 350 professionals working in the entertainment and media industry from around the world.

“The competition this year is really strong and BANFF is thrilled to have this calibre of content in the Rockie Awards Program Competition” said Ferne Cohen, Executive Director of the Banff World Media Fesitval.  “It has been an incredibly diverse year and our esteemed judges have chosen innovative programs with unique stories from around the world. We look forward to celebrating this wonderfully dynamic content at this year’s BANFF.”

Nominees include programs that have achieved much success and accolades in their respective countries, including 19-2 (Best Actor, Canadian Screen Awards), The Blacklist (nominated Best Actor, Golden Globes), Fargo (Best Mini Series, Primetime Emmy Awards), Happy Valley (nominated Best Drama Series, BAFTA), MOZU (nominated Grand Prix, International Drama Festival Tokyo), and Ramses (Best Mini Series, Prix Europa). Nominees also include prolific properties in genre programming, such as Doctor Who, Marvel’s Agent Carter, and The Flash.

Hot topics such as the disappearance of Flight 370 and Edward Snowden are included in documentary nominees. Programs produced by the 2014 Jury Grand Prize winner, Korean Broadcasting Systems, are once again nominated, in categories of Arts and Performance, Interactive Fiction, Melodrama, and Music and Variety.

This year’s award winners will be announced during the Banff World Media Festival taking place in Banff, Alberta from June 7-10, 2015.
