Saturday, July 18, 2015 AUTISM AWARENESS NIGHT IRWINDALE NASCAR RACES,

Irwindale, Calif. – – After a week off, Irwindale’s top NASCAR teams will be back this Saturday, July18th for rounds 8 and 9 of this year’s 18-round Seidner’s Collision Centers Late Model championship. The big bore Late Models will run twin points-paying races Saturday on a night that’s been dedicated to Autism Awareness at the Speedway.

Trevor Huddleston, from Agoura Hills has the points at 340 going into this set of races that mark the half-way point in the so far quite dramatic 2015 season. Last time out, on July 4th, he won series race number 6 and then finished second in the second race of that evening’s Late Model doubleheader.

Behind Huddleston there’s a tight knot of three terrific Irwindale Late Model competitors who are only two scant points apart (!). Covina’s Mike Johnson has 276 points to stand alone in second place with Toni McCray (Highland) and Blaine Perkins tied for third place (at the moment) with 274 each. It actually WAS the 4th of July the last time that the scrapping SCCLMs raced, but rest assured, there’ll be plenty of sparks flying when racers hit the track on Saturday night! Again, this will be two complete points-paying races and a strategy featuring going fast enough to win and carefully enough to keep your car under you for both races is the name of the game every time…

And … the popular Pick Your Part Super Stocks are just as close. After the first three of their 8-race 2015 season drivers in first through third only have 8 points between them! Point’s leader Zach Green (long Beach) has a 2nd and two wins for 148. Indio’s Jimmy Sloan has a first, second, and a third place finish for 144. And Greg Crutcher, (from Covina) with two third place finishes and a second is third at 140 points. Needless to say, the PYP Super Stocks are all ready to come out swinging. They’ll also all be down on the track at 5:45 p.m. for Irwindale’s family-friendly (FREE) pre-race On-Track Autograph Party were the drivers sometime ask the fans for THEIR autographs!

Irwindale’s NASCAR Mini-Stocks hit the half-way point in their seven-race 2015 on July 4th and the points there are tight as well! Beaumont’ Ryan Bragdon, who won the first three races of the season has 188 points to LaVerne’s Aubree Porter who has yet to win a race this season but, by virtue of super-strong finishes in every race so far, is only 4 points out of first place at 184. Robby Harryman from Anaheim lies third in Mini-Stock points with 174.

Chad Schug is having what one might call a “good year” so far … the Oak Hills lad having won all (3) of the Legend Cars races run thus far at Irwindale in 2015. It’s a nine-race series, so we won’t hand the championship trophy just yet, but he has become “the one to watch” in the fast third-mile class. Lakeside’s Darren Amidon is second in points at 136, with Jordan Hyland from North Hills third in the championship as it stands today at 130.

The Universal Studios Hollywood Bandoleros have the dual distinction of being the smallest (in stature) racing cars that compete regularly at Irwindale with the longest division name. Like the Late Models, they run “twin” races each weekend that they race at Irwindale. Only, in their case, they race on Friday night and again on Saturday. They’ve run four of their fourteen-race season so far and McKenzie Eshleman from Twin Peaks has the early points lead with 198 (out of a possible/perfect 200). She has won the last three races in a row and has set herself up as the driver to beat in these tiny-but-terrific rear-engine racing machines. Zack St. Onge from Upland has 186 points and Allison Gay from Lakeside has 182 points rounding out the top three.

As above noted, all fans are strongly encouraged to bring their whole family out to Irwindale early to take part in our fan-friendly On-Track Autograph Party. Having a chance to make direct, personal contact with all these great drivers, young and not-so-you is a wonderful experience … one that’s easy to get (here at Irwindale) and hard to forget.

AND THAT’S NOT ALL ... All right Folks, how would you like to witness one of the wild wonders of the modern age … motoring madness in the shape of the symbol for infinity … with sparking steel skidplates where there should be rear wheels and tires all for the price of one admission on Saturday night?

Well, look behind this curtain: Right … FIGURE 8 SKID PLATES. If you not seen ’em just Google: “skid plate cars at Irwindale” and then stand back…

By the way: they’re real and they’re Sparktacular!
