Geek & Sundry Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of Team Hooman; A community that is fixing the Internet!

September 27 marks an important anniversary for Felicia Day, Ryon Day, and the team at Geek & Sundry. It marks the one-year anniversary of Team Hooman, an amazing community that sparked around Felicia and her brother Ryon Day’s personal Twitch streams, quickly becoming an integral part of the Geek & Sundry family. In its first year, the Team Hooman community has come together with a common love of gaming and giving back, joining awesome individuals together around the world.

But what are they doing to fix the Internet? They are creating safe havens for the gaming community. Because of them, Geek & Sundry’s Twitch chat room and Forums are a safe place for individuals to come together online and share knowledge of things they love while forming bounds with others around the world. ‘Hoomans’, don’t only think about themselves or our community either, they have taken a step from our fearless leader and collectively donated over $25,000 to worthy causes in just one year.

“Community is the most important part of everything I do on the web, and to have such a vibrant one formed around our content is the ultimate compliment,” says Felicia Day, “Team Hooman represents the best of the Internet, and I hope that fostering an online space that encourages people to feel accepted and celebrate their passions shows people offline that the online world can be a wonderful and positive place.”

Geek & Sundry couldn’t do what they do for other communities without the support of Team Hooman. “Hoomans” were there to support the kick off Geek & Sundry’s live streaming platform, Twitch.tv/geekandsundry, raising $160,000 for the Lupus Foundation of America. In honor of their anniversary and as a celebration of all the good they do, a t-shirt will be created for the Geek & Sundry online store with a portion of the proceeds benefitting WildAid.org.

This fall, Geek & Sundry will need the help of their good “Hoomans” when combining forces with Nerdist Industries Extra Life Team by kicking off the campaign with a 12-hour live stream on October 3rd to benefit local Children’s Miracle Network and of course by their side will be their incredible group of good “Hoomans” to help make this event a success.

We invite all to join this incredible community that is fixing our slice of the Internet by creating a welcoming and positive environment for all.
