Session to include 3-team competition to build unique automotive console
TEMPE, ARIZ. – November 3, 2015 (MEDIAWIRE) – Mobile Solutions will add high-caliber competition to its next training session, Master Tech 3D Automotive Interior Build School, scheduled for November 14-17 at its facility in Tempe. The concentrated, four-day course will feature three of the past four Mobile Electronics magazine Installer of the Year winners as well as this past year’s runner-up, along with several renowned fabricators, all of whom will assist in class instruction.
The group of instructors includes Installer of the Year winners Jeremy Carlson (2013), Tom Miller (2014) and Juan Torres (2015), along with 2015 runner-up Matt Schaeffer. Additional high-profile instructors are automotive interior designers Gary Bell and Rommel Medina, and master fabricators Jeremy Katz, Tracey Weaver and Doug Dobson.
“For each class, we try to add something special that will give attendees, most of whom are accomplished professionals in their own right, the ability to immediately realize more efficient and profitable fabrication,” said Bryan Schmitt, president of Mobile Solutions and head instructor. “For this session we are lucky enough to have a perfect mix of industry legends and award winners here at the same time. Participants will get the benefit of what we teach here as well as the seasoning that each of these professionals applies in their own work.”
Designed for working installation professionals, the Automotive Interior Build School session helps attendees better visualize fabrication options that fit with the flow of the vehicle’s existing design while accommodating the space and technical requirements of the installed equipment, using techniques that save time and make the work profitable. In addition, it gives participants hands-on experience in sketching designs in 2D and 3D, creating layered designs with multiple materials using a router, no-staple panel-wrapping secrets, and techniques for creating pressed grilles.
The November 14-17 class curriculum will feature an ongoing competitive build contest in which attendee groups rotate among three teams. The challenge will be to build a three-dimensional console along with multiple unique interior panels. Each team will be led by a trio of experts who will initiate ideas and let attendees help with the build implementation while teaching them style, design, and time-saving procedures. The winning design will be announced at the conclusion of the three-day session.
“There is a lot of excitement heading into the competition,” continued Schmitt. “While these guys want to teach, they are also individually ultracompetitive. Because they know ahead of time what the challenge will be, each of the teams is preparing in their way, from reaching out to buddies in the automotive industry to experimenting with untried designs and materials. We expect attendees to go home with some truly unique ideas to try in their own shops.”
Mobile Solutions will be demonstrating many of its training techniques and fabrication tools at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, Nov. 3-6, at booth #10804 in the North Hall. For more information on upcoming classes, visit mobilesolutions-usa.com.
