MISS AMERICA 2016 TRAVELS TO WASHINGTON, D.C. TO CELEBRATE CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK HOSPITALS’ 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHAMPION PROGRAM

Atlantic City, NJ (July 1, 2016) – Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell traveled to Washington, D.C., earlier this week to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ Champions program. As the National Goodwill Ambassador, Betty welcomed the Champions and their families at the Ronald Regan Washington National Airport as they arrived for their Ambassador Tour Saturday afternoon.

Betty spent the next few days in Washington, D.C., attending events with the Champions and their families. Events included a superhero party to celebrate the Champions program’s 20th anniversary, during which she spent time with the 52 children who represent millions of pediatric patients receiving treatment in Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals around the country. Betty also treated the audience to a performance of “Let it Go” with some help from the Champions who sang along.

Betty also had the opportunity to accompany the Champions during a private meeting with the Surgeon General at the White House, as well as some relaxed fun at Nationals Park for a Washington National’s baseball game.

The Miss America Organization remains proud of our 25-year history working with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Thousands of young women who compete in the Miss America program across the country raise funds, awareness, and devote countless hours to visit with the courageous patients treated at CMN Hospitals.
