Celebrating 40 years of California Coastal Trail and 40 years of California Coastal Act. KCETLink launches 40 short films.

Burbank, Calif. – KCET, the nation’s largest independent public television station, presents the season finale of CALIFORNIA COASTAL TRAIL. California is close to reaching its ambitious goal of building a 1200 mile-long trail, a linear park, along the entire coastline between the Mexican border and the Oregon state line. Recent highlights include the opening of Devil’s Slide Trail in San Mateo County, the legendary Pleasure Point surf spot in Santa Cruz and 2 in-depth studies of the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail running alongside the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary. Paying tribute to longtime residents, activists and elected officials like Secretary Leon Panetta, Congressman Sam Farr and County Supervisor Greg Cox, the series features organizations like CoastWalk, Surfrider Foundation and Ocean Discovery Institute in their aspiration to preserve the ocean and coastline alike and provide access for everyone. Produced with the generous support of the California Coastal Commission through the Whale Tail Grants Program.
