Jaeger-LeCoultre is celebrating its 5th year as sponsor of the San Sebastian Film Festival and is presenting Gael García Bernal with the “Jaeger-LeCoultre Latin Cinema” Award, 2016

Jaeger-LeCoultre is proud to sponsor the San Sebastian Film Festival for the fifth time. Fine Watchmaking and cinema share common values: both create dreams and a sense of fascination through aesthetic and technical mastery. Jaeger-LeCoultre bases its talent on its numerous watchmakers and craftsmen to create exceptional products, just as the creation of unique cinematic works depends on writers, directors, filmmakers, actors, and technicians. These are two worlds sharing the same creative genius.
This year, the Grande Maison is strengthening its relationship with the festival by presenting the “Jaeger-LeCoultre Latin Cinema” award to an important Latin American filmmaker. This inaugural edition of the award will be given to the actor, director, and producer Gael García Bernal. The award will be presented during the gala for his film Neruda, directed by Pablo Larraín, in which he co-stars. This film is part of the Pearls section of the festival.
Jaeger-LeCoultre will have the “Jaeger-LeCoultre VIP Lounge” at the Hotel Maria Cristina, a Luxury Collection Hotel, where the Grande Maison will welcome friends of the brand and stars from the silver screen. Moreover, Jaeger-LeCoultre will host, after the Jaeger-LeCoultre Latin Cinema Award gala, a party to celebrate Spanish cinema. Renowned actors of the film Neruda will attend, as will other guests from the world of cinema.
In addition, Jaeger-LeCoultre will collaborate for the fourth year in a row with the Fundación Aladina, joining the campaign “Un Achuchón por la UCI infantil del Hospital Niño Jesús”. During the 64th edition of the San Sebastian Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s collaboration consists of getting the maximum number of “hugs” during the festival. The event will take place throughout the week at the VIP Lounge of Jaeger-LeCoultre at the Hotel Maria Cristina, a Luxury Collection Hotel. We welcome everyone who wishes to collaborate on the project to join the initiative by posting every “achuchón” (hug) on social networks with the hashtags #Achuchoaladina and #JLCandAladina. For every photo taken and shared on social media, Jaeger-LeCoultre will make a donation to the foundation in support of the campaign.

Un Achuchón por la UCI infantil del Niño Jesús-Fundación Aladina

In its tenth year of existence, the Fundación Aladina is facing its biggest challenge to date: carrying out a comprehensive reform of the children’s ICU for the Hospital Niño Jesús in Madrid. A dream that will come true by the end of 2016 and will involve an investment by the foundation of 1,300,000 euros. Aladina needs help to give a good achuchón to the ICU, the ICU for all children in Madrid and many more throughout Spain.

Jaeger-LeCoultre and cinema
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s affinity with cinema is all about two worlds infused with the same creative effervescence, inspired by a longstanding tradition and the quest for absolute excellence. Jaeger-LeCoultre is particularly supportive of those who contribute every day to creating and bringing life to the art of filmmaking, and attaches great importance to the preservation of its heritage.
Official partner of the Venice International Film Festival for almost a decade, Jaeger-LeCoultre confers the Glory to the Filmmaker Award each year to a filmmaker chosen by the director of the festival.
Since April 2013, as part of the actions of the “Film Society of Lincoln Center” in New York, Jaeger-LeCoultre has launched the Filmmaker in Residence program, an initiative which supports a filmmaker in the realisation of his or her future projects. On the occasion of the Shanghai International Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre is working to protect Chinese cinematographic heritage by funding the restoration of old movies.
Also a sponsor of the San Sebastian Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre is committed to supporting cinema in all its diversity by standing behind the camera, alongside the artists. As a new contribution to the cinema world and to the San Sebastian Film Festival, this year the brand is presenting an award to the best Latin American filmmaker, the “Jaeger-LeCoultre al Cine Latino” award which will be given to Gael García Bernal.
