G2 Esports welcomes partnership with Philips Monitors

Berlin-based organisation G2 Esports has entered a partnership with electronics company Philips Monitors for the 2020 season.

The deal will see the organisation’s Rocket League and sim racing teams train on monitors from the Philips Momentum range.

Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez, CEO of G2 Esports, spoke on the partnership in a release: “When gaming, whether we’re competing online or playing single player titles, we want a smooth, remarkable experience. Don’t let them lie to you – pro players not only want their games to run smoothly but also look gorgeous. Philips Monitors are innovators and so are we. Welcome on board.”

G2 Esports partnered with Secretlab earlier this year but only after it extended its partnership with gaming monitor manufacturer AORUS. It’s also in deals with AOC, Logitech G, Red Bull, Mastercard, paysafecard, nicecactus.gg, Twitch, and Hdac Technology.

Stefan Sommer, Director of Marketing & Business Management at MMD for Philips Monitors, also commented: “We’re proud to join forces with G2 in order to make console gaming even more exciting than ever and to help support the esports community. The G2 Rocket League team, in particular, have worked hard to get where they are now and we’re excited to see how far they go in 2020 with our support.

“By equipping the whole G2 teams’ training facilities with console optimised monitors this means we can really enhance their training, in particular the Rocket League team. This also gives us an opportunity to get to know what pro players want out of a monitor and incorporate these learnings into future products for console gaming.”

While this partnership is for G2 Esports’ car-based teams, AOC continues to be the monitor provider for the organisation’s other players and teams in 2020.

Esports Insider says: G2 Esports has put a lot into sim racing – partnering with Fernando Alonso last year, for example – so it makes sense that it would seek optimal deals for its players and teams. With two monitor providers working with the organisation now, this could lead to some competition down the line between the two.
